With the news that the genre defining Burial album Untrue turned 10 years old this week, I got back onto this mix from UK Bass duo My Nu Leng. Warning: There's a godawful Archangel remix in there about a 3rd of the way through, but besides that it's superb.
Prince's unexpected passing in 2016 precipitated countless tributes, and for me this was the best one doing the rounds. Two hours of deep digging from Artwork, no talking, no remixes, no edits, just great music put together perfectly.
Sepalcure pretty much summed up the pinnacle of the whole UK Bass sound back in 2010 - 2012 for me. Their mixture of sugary sweet vocals and skittish percussion, with a touch of Burial-esque melancholy, just hits the right spot.
This 30 minute mix is back from when Joy Orbison first burst onto the scene with the anthemic Hyph Mngo. The first 'release' of his short lived Doldrums label, this mix seemed to set the tone for his trajectory as an artist.
Sun and Bass is a small festival in Sardinia, where around 1000 people go to listen to 8 days of drum and bass. Before I went I thought it sounded like hell on earth, even as a massive fan of dnb, but it's actually one of the best festivals I've ever been to.
